I see No-Doz all the time at chemists, usually sometimes at the front counter on one of those carousel thingymajigs alongside other small packets of tablets like panadol and what not.

For me, 8+ hours of sleep and a big healthy breakfast usually gets me going throughout the day, if i need an extra kick i just guzzle down an energy drink on my way to school.

Not really helping lately though cause friggen channel 7 decided to put 24 and LOST on so late at night, making me stay up and watch it.... *makes angry face and shakes fist at ch7*

Listen to my problem too:

I am too tired in class too. My concentration is down to the minimum level and I am not paying much attention in class.

I have been given some warnings by my teachers because of that....

I am so pissed off at myself whenever I dissapoint my teachers who hold extremely high expectation from me...

But the thing is, I cannot really help myself. Since the beginning of the year, I have decided to focus more on school life and my own life rather than HSC life because having done HSC earlier last year, I have neglected my school life and my life in general. So I get involved in lots of peer mentoring, peer support, anti-bullying campaign, boxercises, chess (soon), and other things. Because of all this, I just get too tired...

Not only that, I am also spending some of my time, looking at courses & scholarships that I might be interested for next year. Doing 13 units of subjects where most are highly scaled and VERY DIFFICULT don't help either.....

However, even though my "class life" suffers due to my lack of attention, I have done quite well in terms of academic results...so should I be worried about whether I pay much attention in class or not...??

I am finding it too hard to find balance atm!!!

Have a jog in the morning to stimulate the body ... then have a big breakfast.

Also if you have a bad afternoon sleeping routine, don't go home straight away after school .. instead go library to study or something.

yeah, don't start relying on no-doze or energy drinks, because then your body will start to rely on them and stop producing its own caffeine because it knows you're overdosing on it. and when you stop taking caffeine, your body will go on a total slump because it will be lacking the caffeine you were feeding it. so, just don't start.

make sure you are eating healthily!!!! can't stress this enough. minismise processed foods and fizzy drinks. and exercise... like evryone else said

No-Doze you should be able to get at a petrol station, but they only have 100mg caffeine per tablet. So just drink coffee instead.
If you are going to have energy drinks get Red Bull, or associated rip off- make sure it has Glucuronolactone. (Red Bull has 600mg per can)

btw Never sleep for an hour, your body sleeps in 90 minute cycles, the last 30 minutes are the beneficial ones.

Maybe look into poly-phase sleeping. You sleep for half an hour every 4 hours and then you don't need a big sleep at night. You feel really energetic all the time. However, it does take about a week to adapt to this though and you'll be mega tired throughout that first week.

But, to me, sounds like you have an Iron deficiency. Either you aren't consuming enough Iron, or your body doesn't process it properly. Hopefully you can just start eating more red meat, otherwise you're just going to have to get a damn good coffee maker.

A good breakfast will help as well. Make it quite substantial and healthy.

Why should students have to resort to "no-doz"???

I don't think you should consider taking no-doz unless you are like really desperate. :jaw:
Always good to have some lying around lol. I might stick to energy drinks for now though.

Nice thread. So this is why I sleep in my classes...(realised from this thread):

1. I rarely drink water. It's all fizzy drinks (no joke).
2. I like V's and Mother's. I have them in the library quite a bit.
3. I never eat fruit.
4. I eat a shit load of junk food (and I mean a shit load. Ironically, I'm still skinny...the stress of the HSC keeps the balance :D).

So yeah. Loads of fruit, water and resorting to less junk food and fizzy drinks (which owns my teeth) may do the trick. That's probably why my memory and recalling information in the short/long term is also shit. I plan to keep this in mind as a goal :).

to be honest i have never fallen asleep in class, but occassionally i might space out, eg english when watching blade runner cause it is so boring after watching it so many times already

so my thing is to drink water just to stay hydrated and keep away from sugar (which is really hard now, stupid diabetes)

Anger management.

@OP; take notes furiously, even if they don't make sense or are irrelevant. Usually it's easier to keep on a roll in class.

Ive become somewhat of a fitness freak in the past 3 month ish.
The thing that has been keeping me going all day is exercising well and eating well. All u need is at least 40 minutes of exercise a day... and i swear. u will feel motivated to do some work. When ever i feel lazy at home... or start to get sleepy, i go into my garage and start to have a boxing session. I blast some music (go hard or go home) <--- my motivation music, and i just start going crazy on the pnchin bag. After about 20min of goin nuts, u feel exhuasted!
Nothing a nice cold glass of water and a shower wont fix, then go back to study.
It sorta refreshes your whole body.

so yeh... eat well, exercise, drink water, study.
and download go hard or go home :D

Okay so after reading this post, I looked up polyphasic sleeping.. And I've decided to try it. I dunno, it seems so cool that I just HAVE to try it. Plus, it gives me an extra 6 hours per day (to study or what-not).
I'll be posting up blogs on my progress (as many others have done online). Apparently the first week/two is mean to be really hard and most people fail during that 'adaptation' phase. But yeah, it'll be quite cool :D
