Planograms in my store are generally made into paper aeroplanes in the office and thrown at the bin on the other side of the room.

Ohhh ok. I asked my mum when she got home and she said they cant really do that unless they tell you about the incharge book, which they havent. They do it just to make the grids look a bit better apparently. Sounds more like they're trying to rip me off and save on wages. Doesnt really sound like my CSM to do a thing like that. Wouldnt put it past the 2IC though. Haha, she said 'I'll be doing pay roll next week, so I'll make sure your fucking paid right'!

Oh, no one told me about the incharge book either! Its just something I knew existed from many years ago's worth of supervisors mentioning it, and then I was in cash office when our 3IC was claiming with it. So the next week I was in cash office I worked out where it was kept, and since then I've been using it. Its funny though, if you go through the past pages, there's like a years gap where front end staff haven't been claiming, and all of a sudden there's three of us who are.

And grids, yep, thats something my store would do as well. Apaz in winter only one supervisor is needed 7-4, and for closes there is no supervisor needed after 4.30 weekdays. Def to make sure that the grids don't look too shabby.

The only person in my store who ever gets SUPER-IC is our CSM, so in my opinion its not too big of a deal.

However, we all know how the chain goes. Well we used to until we got a new 3IC :chainsaw:. That just fucked us right up.

Haha, did my Dairy Plano a couple of months ago and ended up with about 60cm x 4 shelf free. Haha. Usually we are running out of space. So we ended up making it out "Promo bay".

The area manager quite liked it and we did notice an increase in sales of items in that promo section. And boy or boy is this guy a pain in the backside.

When it comes to our freezer plano we ignore it and manager signs it off. Sometimes the reps come in and do the plano. As soon as they are out the door we start putting it back to what it was like or opening up on a few more lines.

It just so happened that someone from HR was in during my shift and my manager introduced me to that person and I kinda showed interest but when i asked how much i would be looking at if I made a manager of Perish in my store he was very coy.

He couldn't even give a rough idea. Still don't know if i should accept.

okay, last night we made just over $2000 after 6.15 and I had three staff...and thats what you get for a Saturday???
Well we only do like $60k a day, but having two staff (cos the three are all doing 8hr shifts) for the majority of a Saturday during the tourist season (we get alot of them) is completely ridiculous. I just grocery have a lot of staff so I can just use them.

Huh? Is there something called SUPER-IC you can use on the rosters? Since when? That would be SO much use here, there are are disproportionately high amount of supervisors and they ALL get shitty when they have to serve, even when they're on as operators.

Service lacks a chain-of-command and its turning out to a be a problem. CSM told me that I'm her 2IC til old one gets back from maternity, but she obviously hasn't told anyone else, most of whom just think I'm bossy.

tbh, my store is pretty good with the casual/ppt supervisors. it helps that there is one girl who has been supervising a lot longer than the rest of us, and even the operators know that she's in charge, not us.

Our only problem arises with the girl that is supposed to be becoming our 3IC, because although she's doing Future 2IC course and all, she's still casual, has only been here six months and actually has very little clue on the practical aspects of being a supervisor. On Monday I had to remind her that since its 12pm we should maybe be closing people for lunch. Last week she didn't do reports because "its supposed to be an open job", and left ALL 23 snaps until just before 9pm "just in case" (while only having four operators). (I was not on those nights to sort her out).

And she wonders why no one wants to take her seriously. I mean, I get that she's still learning, but the balance between correct procedure and doing what actually needs to be done is not there.

If worst comes to worst and they get an operator shift (oh noes!), they will forcefully stay in smokeshop, and that annoys me. One supervisor was meant to go on express, made another girl who was doing jobs jump on express so she could stay in smokeshop and chat to the other supervisor on duty/and other bludgers.

They think that, "because they are normally supervisors" they can sit in the smokeshop and do nothing.
Our CSM is grilling people for this atm, she has had enough of people thinking "if they wear the vest it gives them the right to do nothing".

Babikakez, I'm guessing she's one of the few who have outlined they want a career with Woolworths, as opposed to having it as a part time job supplementing studies in other areas, meaning an end to their part time Woolworths employment in the near future.

They're still wearing the vests at my store. And so do I. (only on my week end close shifts) I guess once all the supervisors get their stripy shirt thats when they will not wear the vests any more. I havent even ordered mine. I'm still going to wear it untill I get a stripy shirt. I love the green vest!!

Who ever is supervising is not allowed to serve at my store, unless the DM/SSM comes down...but they dont mind serving. I felt a bit weird when the SSM said that she doesnt mind jumping on, some of the other operators (who was a casual supervisor) was looking at me like 'wtf are you doing making the SSM serve' hahah! Apparently, they give the front end 'a generous budget to spend on staff, therefore supervisor productivity should not be taken away under any circumstances' meaning dont serve. Lol. People always come for express alerts when I call them but I always hear the 3IC and 2IC bitching about people never coming. Maybe they're just pussy's over the PA.

The Supervisor on duty isn't allowed to serve at my store either. As Alcohol and tobacco gets put through normal registers here and require SVR authorisation to override the sale, they must be able to answer bells as quickly as possible, and can't do that if they are serving.

Even if the CSM is on but she isn't the SVR on duty, she has to serve instead of the SVR. Heck, the Store Manager even serves befroe the SVR does. (Which he does quite often)

Does anyone know if the fresh food departments will be getting the hats? Or will we have to buy our own?. I know they are available on the website, but I don't want to by one, if we'll be getting a whole lot of them anyway.

I have no issue with this. The issue that I have is that while she's got all this theoretical knowledge about every department under the sun, it doesn't help her as a supervisor. Perhaps I'm just a little bitter because she stole my shifts.

Honestly though, I'm so over service at the moment. I can't wait till they properly train me in cash office. I have a two hour SSA shift tonight that I cannot for the life of me work out what it is, so I might just rock up to cash office and be like "hello, am I here today?"

This is my store. We generally share express lanes 12-14, while operators get 15-17.

Okay, my store is nothing like this. But having staggered express lanes does encourage us to serve.

Yeah it is completely different if you have staggered express (or express at all). Serving in express is acceptable to most supervisors.

babikakez: You probably won't lose it. We were told in my former store that in the unlikely event of a refit before 2070 that we would keep our staggered express, 3 registers which run down the side of the service desk, facing parallel with the aisles, if you get what i mean?

I saw this in another refurbed store, i think its common practice in stores of your size. However it seems you have more than 3 express, which may affect such an outcome.

my 2IC always does this to me when she does the rosters, but i get
SUPERVSN
5:30-9:30
OPERATOR
10:30-13:00
SUPERVSN
13:00-14:30

the CSM, 2IC or 3IC come in at 9:30am and i go for my lunch break and then they use me as back up for their lunch break which stars anywhere from 1pm, so then they pay me as a Supervisor for my last bit.
it's so confusing on the grid.
as an 18 y.o in Victoria it's only like $1.05 more an hour supervison so i don't know why they don't just pay the whole shift at Supervision pay. it's so dumb the way the roster it and it's super confusing.
I know, i find it a bit pedantic. Most of my weekdays are like:

09:00 - 11:00 Operator
11:00 - 12:00 Supervision
13:00 - 14:00 Meal
12:00 - 18:00 Operator

I would prefer a simple roster than that 70c extra for ONE hour of doing the CSM's lunch break. I'd like it if on Tuesday they paid my entire shift in supervision cos that's the day the CSM does rosters.

Although my 36 Xmas week hours were paid in supervision rates in their entirety, which was orgasmic.
