I've applied for about 25 positions online... I've handed out about 10 resumes, and I've walked around to about 15 more places to ask if they have any work available.

Not one callback. Not one place had anything available. So damn frustrating...
Anyone in the same position?

A lot of students that only wanted to work for summer holidays will be leaving soon, so don't give up...

Think about places which will be busier soon. Try applying at the Royal Ag Society for the Easter show, or bakeries for easter. Childcare will be picking up with back to school (a lot of these jobs require skilled workers, but there are occasional junior positions).

Local newspaper career sections can be a good source for jobs as well. People hand out 100's of resumes and still don't get many callbacks, ten is nothing in comparison.

Have a look over your resume too, ask someone to check it out and proof read it. First impressions last.

I looked for a job for AGES before I got my current job just over 18 months ago.

You have to be persistent and pay attention to your resume.

Also try to be as available as you can, part of my problem was that at the time I didn't drive so was limited to places accessible by bus/train. And I live in a somewhat rural area so that cut out like at least half the available jobs around. I took a job in north sydney because I was desperate enough to not care about the travel time. They then moved right across the road from uni (also in the city but better location) so it all worked out in the end

You just have to keep trying :)

I've been looking for part-time work last year.
I think it might be something to do with my resume.
So I'll get someone to check over my resume and cover letter when I'm applying later this year.

Good luck to everyone who's looking for a job! :)

Me. I've been to so many places, applied to like 60 stores in the past 3 months and nothing. I'm just not ecsperienced enough for anything. Because you know i really need to be trained to be a sandwich maker... so much bullshit.

Have any of you guys got any experience? as in paid experience like so and so years at coles/maccas/safeway/kmart etc?
If not...thats your problem, try getting a job at a shit place like this, work your way up for a year or so then write up your resume again.

I've had about 1.5 years at KFC, 6 months at a carwash and 3 years construction work (working about 1 day a fortnight).. Still nothing, lol.. Hopefully this is the week!

The problem is I have applied at everywhere you have mentioned and many more in about 10 different districts for each store and even they don't want me to gain the experience i need for a good job. ITS IMPOSSIBLE NOBODY WANTS ME

One word. Maccas. They hire everyone, from the scum of the earth to uni students.

No if you're above about 18, they probably won't hire you unless you're available during the week a lot, or can do overnights

lol. how come i got rejected then?

doesn't matter though - gloria jean's accepted me.

OP - if you have that much experience, it's probably your resume or you're going to have to be willing to travel. more likely your resume.

If you're over 18 you need to stop applying for the maccas/subway type jobs where they almost exclusively hire 15 year olds to keep costs down. Get your RSA (responsible service of alcohol) and RSG (gambling) and apply for bartending, bottleshops, pokies venues etc. Jobs that are for adults.

At the moment, I'm using Google Maps to go from suburb to suburb, emailing all the financial planning and accountancy firms in the suburb and asking whether they have positions suitable for me. I've sent out about 20 emails so far. Hurstville, Mortdale, Penshurst and Sutherland are down. Korgarah tomorrow. Rockdale day after.
So fucking tedious.
