I was just wondering.. People say that practice makes perfect when it comes to maths.. But what i'm wondering is, is it really necessary to do questions that are very easy you can do in your head when looking at them? Harder questions that require thinking are hard to find and there are only those easy questions left. Would it be necessary to do them at all? Like write the working down and stuff?

Better off to write em down. Don't discriminate the easy questions because in the future they may come to hunt you back, therefore you will lose easy marks.

If it's that easy, no you dont need working out lol. But to a degree, you show at least some working out for questions that require a number of steps (in exams).

I mean like..i make careless mistakes in tests and i'm sick of it.. People then tell me to just keep on practicing but theres not really goo enough questions to practice with. The easy questions are too easy and the for the hard ones, there are barely any of them to do :S

Complacency. I attempt every single question that is thrown at me, easy or hard, I will still do them.

I would like to also say some Maths textbooks are set up in a way that it how you say, "builds you up for the next question". I don't ever believe in skipping questions.

Yea it was good. But stick to what you have at the moment. No point in buying books right now at this stage, just do past SC papers.

If I were you I would just start on year 11 work, you know when people say "oohhh yeh year 10 isn't important ay brah", surprisingly, they are right. don't burn yourself out now, and not even in year 12, believe me you are wasting your TIME, just know the quadratic formula and you'll be schweet. START CALCULUS NOW

I would suggest to Big bang if he/she has any problems with any work with algebraic expressions, brush up on those first.

Thanks guys for the tips guys. I just started calculus today in tutor. Pretty hard to understand :S And for algebra, i would say that i am just alright. I was thinking of doing all the algebra exercises in the Cambridge book. Spiral, do you think i should do that? I am just ALRIGHT at algebra. That means, not good, and not bad. Anything else i should start on first/ or brush up before i reach year 11 guys? Like any topics i should get ahead on or relearn for year 11?

Absolutely. Although people would disagree. I would strongly suggest you attempt to brush up on your algebra skills. Start with the Cambridge book. The algebra level questions are the same as any other textbook in Chapter 1. Except those extension ones. Do attempt them, they are very good.
