General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS) (2 Viewers)

Share your thoughts and opinions of the 2011 English AOS exam here.

What aspects of the paper did you like and dislike? Did you consider it a fair test of your abilities? How did you find the exam as a whole?

I did really bad.
My nerves got the better of me.
To all those with a prepared response - FUCK YOU!
It said fucking "may" so you could've written whatever you wanted.
I should've made one beforehand.
Also, I knew it would be place but I didn't bother changing my quotes.
Horrible.
Best I'll get is 33/45.

How Great Was That?

I dunno if i like flunked out majorly or something, but that paper was GREAT!

I was happy that the overall theme was the same throughout the whole paper ! (i dunno if that usually happens)

Also, anyone who went to the pre-uni english mock trial where the section 1 was on how a sense of place shapes identity HAHAHAHA I was rofling (metaphorically) during the 'open your books and let's go through each page to check everything is there' omg lol omg

I wasn't happy because I was in no way geared towards that theme; I think I did fairly average.

lol pretty decent paper. but i have a feeling loads are people are gonna do well so it'll be hard to get a band 6.. and LOL at using stimulus if we wish

Each year the belonging paper has a theme. Just like this year was belonging to place and last year was belonging to family, etc.

Anyways ,

I thought that it was great

And i had nothing prepared

I didnt know what to expect but I didnt think that they had one theme throughout the whole paper (places)

The unseen texts were so interesting and diverse and the questions were straight forward.

I was glad that there was a visual stimulus for the creative writing task , it made it a whole lot easier ..

& memorising my poems (Skrzynecki prescribed text) made picking out the quotes a whole lot easier as well ..

Maybe i totally flunked out and did everything wrong , but for now i will bask in the glory of the thought that it was easy ..

But then again i'd b happy with 33/45 Riproot :L

ye i died w happiness when i opened that paper

the theme was more obvious than last years...or was it the year before.. where they had an essay on the individual or whatever which you could've just ignored the theme of the paper

1, 2, 3 -> always did s1 first in case i didn't get something -> thank god cos it took me 45mins lol

I liked the essay question and creative.

But the short answers were fuked.

Probably 12-13 for creative, 13-14 for essay, 10-13 for section 1

N` I didn't have any expectations , nothing prepared or anything , but i couldnt have asked for a better one.

The essay and creative were okay. Fucking time management, I couldn't finish the short answers. There goes four marks -.-

14 - 15 for essay, 12 - 13 for creative and pffft 8-10 for section 1
