i'm currently doing 12 units at the moment.
including Korean background speaker plus math extension and i am having trouble to decide whether i should drop one and keep 10 units.

My school has bit different way of teaching for math ext
that is... we learn all the 2unit math first so we havn't start any ext work at all.
so my teacher wants everyone to make sure we have space to drop math ext just because it will be workload plus it will get way difficult.

but i've always wanted drop Korean but i hesitate to drop Korean since i have asked many questions to my teacher and all she says is keep 12 units.
i've listen to her therfore i still havn't drop nothing but now i really really don't like KOrean

pros and cons for Korean and Math ext

Math ext
Pros: i am not that bad in math extention. my rank is always in above top 10 out of 61, also i like it. also i have spent my holiz doing math ext since we almost finished all the 2unit math and we will be doing math ext next term.
now i am 2topics ahead of everyone and don't think its difficult at the moment.
so if i am going to drop it then i have wasted my holz

cons: this didn't happened in year 11 but i performed really shittt in yr12 2unit math assesment and went good in mah ext (maybe coz i was more focusing on math ext), i started to feel workloaded take lot of time to study and lazy hmm....

Question: is math ext gets realllly difficult? do you think i can do it?....:/

Korean
pros: i was born in Korea. I came second out of 4 people lolololol :) got 79...haha

cons:
1. hard ridiculously hard, also workloaded (it also take lot of time..), there's alot to do. (don't think i am good at it)
2. dosen't scale well...... also i've heard that my Korean mark sort of depends on my eng mark (if i perform bad in eng it will bring my mark down), since there's lot of ppls who's doing ESL (i don' know how this works but thiat's what my teacher said) plus i do standard so its harder than ESL and im average in english.
2. i don't have teacher with me every day. studying myself. it's openschool program.
3. i have been lazy and havn't done much work and i've got lot of overdue work
4. i think this happens because i don't like it. but should i start some work and keep 12 units forever?

you guys might say "IF you hate Korean so much then drop it".
but.... i am just afraid i will do really bad in math, (though im confident with this half yrly but i've seen few HSC past papers and those harder topics ....wow .... i dont know... it looks hard... ) i know it will be harder....
\

what should i do ?

I think you know the answer to that.

Your ranks are all one though.

Mathematics Extension gets slightly heavier content wise in the end but if you consolidate and know your topics you will find it a breeze.

I can't comment on Korean but from what I have read you seem to enjoy Extension 1 more.

Depends what you define hard. I don't find the extension courses "hard".

As long as you are comfortable with all concepts, Eg. Integration, applications, trigonometry, which will connect with later topics school's do such as binomial theorem, inverse trigonometry, motion, rates of change etc. You should be fine.

Yes of course you haven't covered the topics, that's why when you look at the past papers its "hard". When I first saw past papers back in junior school, I could not do most of them. This is because I haven't learnt most of the content yet.

Don't believe this guy. He's so good at maths so obviously he'd find it a "breeze". ="=

Fine, I won't come to the library with you tomorrow. *hmph*
Hey I just don't want someone to rely on your advice when it comes to the difficulty of maths. This is their future we're talking about.

Maths Extension 1 is okay but when it comes down to the difficulty of a subject I believe it is rather subjective. You may find Korean hard, I'll find Korean impossible! After watching tons of Korean dramas and listening to K-pop, I can't learn a word! So it varies from person to person.

You have yet to have a proper MX1 exam at school correct? I suggest that you hold onto it until your first MX1 exam and decide from there.

so i guess math ext will get difficult for me.......
No no no! You are misinterpreting my statements.

It will not be difficult for you if you understand the previous concepts. (Solid foundation)

so what do you think i should do animeiswild?
I suggest that you hold onto it until your first MX1 exam and decide from there. Obviously if you do well you keep it, if not as well as you hoped then drop it. But judging from your ranks in your signature, I don't believe you will have a problem with MX1.

True that but first exam is like first impression of the subject. Do well in the first exam and you'll feel like studying it isn't so bad.

And you don't really want to drop a subject half way in your HSC after putting in so much effort and work.

Do not worry, Spiral is lazy. Everyone is at some point. But as long as you be consistent with Mathematics and enjoy learning it! Bob is your uncle!

Oh I see. Yes, ultimately you should study for Korean but seeing that you feel so unwilling to study it, maybe it is best to drop Korean. You can't hope to gain much from a subject that you don't enjoy.

May I ask what school you come from? 225 people in standard English not accounting those in Advanced, your grade must be huge!

don't listen to what your teacher says. if you want to drop korean, then drop it. trust me, you will have a lot more time to focus on your other subjects.
