Okay, so everything has now been finalised.

What:

A difficult Extension 1 and Extension 2 paper, aimed primarily at people wanting a challenge. I will personally mark every single paper to HSC Standard (I work with some senior HSC markers, so I am familiar with the marking process), and I will record the marks and PM them to you.

I will organise a time for you to come and collect your paper again. There will be NO opportunities to 'scab marks', because everybody will be marked equally.

When:

Monday 24th September (Extension 1 Mathematics 10:30am) and Wednesday 26th September (Extension 2 Mathematics 11am).

Where:

Parramatta Library top floor, Darug Room.

What to bring:

Usual examination materials such as pens, pencil, ruler, eraser, compass etc.

Final chance to confirm Extension 2 Attendance

Attendance list:

If you have any further questions or wish to also attend, please post in this thread or send me a Private Message.

On the day of the paper, after the examination, I will make a thread to allow students to discuss the paper.

OMG this sounds fantastic- thanks Carrot for all the effort. I can do any of those days but just in case you didn't know- the HSC starts on the 15th October (with english) so a few people might not want to do it so close to english.

Re: Official BOS Trial Examinations: Spring Edition.

I understand that 15th October is English, but unfortunately this is the best I can do (for the mean time). I will try to get it earlier if I can.

Also, whoever is the winning entry for the front cover, I will buy you lunch =)
!!!!!!!

Consider it done!

(lol jks, I can't design to save my life...)

I hope you will do this again next year :)

If I have any scrapped/spare questions, I'll chuck them up here just so you can have a feel of the content that is going to be in the paper.

You should have a good prize for anyone that manages 100%.

Not a bad idea. Will need to think about it.

Maybe not 100%, but the highest score.

Re: Official BOS Mathematics Trial Examinations: Spring Edition.

Please excuse the fact that it looks wonky and everything. it's because I took screenshots of different parts, so naturally they are not going to align properly when posted up here as images.

This question unfortunately had to be left out not because of the difficulty (was one of the rather easy ones), but because it was more tedious than difficult.

Hence, despite the pretty end-result, it had to be let go ='(

Looks mad fun! Hopefully I can make it, although sadly I may be in NZ at the time. I'll try the question you posted as soon as I wake up tomorrow.

Re: Official BOS Mathematics Trial Examinations: Spring Edition.

Yep you're right. I took those from the draft list of Q's, so none of them were checked thoroughly yet for typos.

Thanks for that =)

Re: Official BOS Mathematics Trial Examinations: Spring Edition.

Very nice solution =)

But now I am wondering why I flipped the required identity, seeing that you ha to flip it back anyway to evaluate the limit in the question...

Re: Official BOS Mathematics Trial Examinations: Spring Edition.

In this particular case, whether the root ab is on the numerator or denominator doesn't make a difference.

Anyway I shall be off - UNSW open day tomorrow. Dw carrot coming to usyd :). I'm definitely looking forward to the mx2 and mx1 paper. I probably can't make the meat...considering I live on the northern beaches lolol. I'll see if I can be bothered to trek it to parra.

Re: Official BOS Mathematics Trial Examinations: Spring Edition.

Yep didn't make a difference, but of course it's silly to flip something, then flip it again, when you could have just left it there in the first place.

This looks pretty awesome, good job Carrot.

If you need some volunteers for anything I wouldn't mind helping out since I live very close :)
