So I receieved back most of my exams today and they all had written in bold writing "I cannot read your handwriting; this issue needs to be addressed asap".
The worst being modern... "I had to type your response up so I could mark it" .

Apparently I have to get provisions so that I can type up my responses? Is that even allowed?

Also, share your struggles with handwriting here :)

There are such provisions yes, but they are usually granted for people with writing impediments and such. Try to see if you qualify if it really is that bad.

Yeah, it's really that bad. They've been working with me since SC and it's just not improving.

Apply for it now since applications are done very early

There are ones where people can type through their computer, but usually they either have a problem with the hand or a broken arm preventing them from writing normally. You can apply though, but try to find different ways to improve your handwriting, as it would help you in the long run. Try maybe using a different type of pen and keep practicing if necessary.

If you spend an extra 2 minutes to make it legible, it'd definitely be worth it.

But yeah, applications are still open at the moment.

But, isn't that very time consuming?

They're not closed yet right? :) They were unsure today :L
It sounds like reading your responses is a little time consuming too.

Thankyou! :) I will try both just to be safe.
Or you could try primarily block but join letters occasionally to write faster, at least that's what we're told.

Would you be able to attach a sample of your handwriting just to get an impression of what you mean?

Please note that you can't get special provisions just for having 'messy' or 'illegible' handwriting. There has to be a medical reason so putting in an application will need a lot of supporting evidence.

You may even have to attend some sort of tests done by specialists etc.

The other thing to note is the most of the time it is a scribe that is provided and not the ability to type (typed responses are very very rare - I can remember 3 or 4 over 20 years of marking - not 3 or 4 per year but 3 or 4 or 1 every 5 years).

It isn't a BIG issue for me really but my Economics teacher who marked my short answer section of my Eco yearly exam said I need to improve my handwriting (and I write BIG as well).

Meanwhile, my extended response which had much worse handwriting had no comments on it. (It was marked by a different teacher)

Have you received any help or guidance on how to write properly? Since you have 1 more year to go you still have time to retrain yourself. From my own observation, it is very difficult to re-learn to write properly. I just don't understand why! I'm baffled as to why something as easy as handwriting has to be that difficult?

I've shown a number of students how to write - but most of them fail to improve. To learn how to write, get someone over 40 (or 50??) to show you how. Younger people mostly do not know how to write.

I'm sure if someone is determined enough, he/she should be able to learn to write decently.
