How long should it take to make notes? (3 Viewers)

Personally it can take me anywhere from 40 mins- 1.5 hours per dot point as I handwrite my notes. I find this to be very time consuming as i try to write it as neat as I can. I've been making notes almost everyday after school (except for the days leading up to assessment tasks) and I'm somewhat behind. In physics I haven't started on the 4th section in space "Current and emerging understanding about time and space has been dependent upon earlier models of the transmission of light", in bio i'm 4 dot points away from finishing (excluding the 2nd hand investigations in the 3rd section), in business i'm 5 dot points away from finishing. In addition to this, i'm typing this up to a word doc which eats more time. My main concern is that I wont have any time to actually re-read my notes to revise. I have found that handwriting my notes has helped me memorise content easier so instead do you guys think it would be better to type it on a word document first, then write on paper 1-2 times (without caring about neatness etc.)?

depends on how much detail you put into your notes, I put a lot in so it can take me a while before I finish one unit.

It varies a lot, it depends on whether you want notes just to jog your memory/ only key ideas, or whether you want them to be really detailed.

Personally, i'd type them up first and then write any parts that you're struggling with/ having trouble remembering out. You do need time to read over them, although for me I think the process of making and refining the notes is actually more beneficial than reading, because you need to read over the content first before putting it into your notes.

It isn't how long it takes you to make notes because the whole learning process shouldn't be a rush. Just do things at a pace that you are comfortable with. As long as you're learning, it shouldn't matter how long you spend on something.

the learning process has been great! i can comfortably recite information from biology and physics word for word (well almost ) but i'm just scared that i wont be fast enough in completing my notes

Well you are starting now which is a good thing and also we got the beautiful holidays coming up.... yay.

When writing notes for legal studies and business studies, I picked the stupid idea and started to summarise all of the preliminary syllabus within a week or so before the exams (and I wrote my notes). I didn't complete it all (as I skipped some parts that seemed irrelevant) but whatever I got down and memorised I was able to recall this information during the exam and the end result was okay... just needed more time to write and go over my notes ^^;

And it all really depends on how detailed you want your notes. Say if you know a topic really really well you might just write only a key few things rather than 4 pages of it. Typing is faster, but I prefer writing but it can be time consuming. If the amount of time you are going to spend writing notes is bothering you, create a timetable where you are free and where you aren't (this also includes recess, lunch and free periods at school). This probably isn't any help but I'd thought I'd share my opinion and experience.

i dont learn anything at school so i pretty much include everything and i already have a study timetable :L although i actually dont do anything during free periods and doing work during recess and lunch seems abit excessive :/

its faster (typing the content, adding in diagrams), you can easily edit anything, accessible from pretty much everywhere and you can't lose it
