google translate thinks this is gibberish
No he wrote arabic using the latin alphabets
imma translate even tho he used wrong wrong grammar
in formal arabic he wrote ‘is it true you can’t speak?’
though if directly translated sounds like this ‘the truth is you don’t speak?’

No
tatakalam = تتكلم
Which means ‘you speak’ (for males)

learning is ‘ta’aloum’ = تعلم
which means ‘learning’ or ‘learn’ (command) or ‘you know’ (male) depending on pronunciation
تَعَلُم
تَعَلَم
تَعْلَم
the meaning are as as listed in order above (writing them done as if you guys will understand 😭😭)

i dont recommend anyone to learn arabic if not for cultural/religious reasons cus its so hard (from someone who knows arabic more than english cus they lived in 10 yrs in an arabic country)

Did you learn english back there too? Or did you have to learn a whole new language after coming here?

Nah i already knew eng
Ok an anecdote
In lebanon u have two choices to choose from when entering skl at the age of three (we have three stages for kindy) anyways, u either do arabic n english w french as a second langauge or arabic n french w english as a second language either way ur learning three langauges

ur second language u get one period a week to study (so rlly unimportant) but arabic n english/french every day

i did arabic n english w french n u guys can see how ‘good’ my english is (i went to a prestigious private skl - over there prestigious means eveyr student graduates w honours (top in the country) not expensive rich like knox or pymbles)

It means 'speak', but it might be exclusive to my dialect ahah. I'm not very good at the formal one.
If ur north africa (excluding egypt) then yh we have different ‘versions of arabic’ bc they have eng, fren, spanish and arabic all in one so they made a dialect easier to understand all those languages at once
