    Trig Equation

Auxiliary angle method involves taking an expression in the form asinx + bcosx and changing it into a single function. This is the method that involves dividing to get tana in terms of a constant. in this case the question was cosy - \sqrt{3}siny \\ \text{We want it in the form} \\ Rcos(y+a)...

Does the HSC determine how smart you are. Discuss.

rote learning is very achievable for HSC science because the syllabus is extremely succinct. I agree with RoT about state rankers understanding the content of course though. In order to truly nail those 6/7/8 markers (which can ONLY come from syllabus dot points that require you to discuss...

    ruse 2013 trial solutions

I thought it was pretty typical for a Ruse paper honestly... wasnt easier than 2012 or 2011. 14a I havent seen exactly, but a similar q was in the BOS 2013 MX1 (I know because I did that timed 2 days ago). Id be interested to see the victorian paper and their solutions :P

    ruse 2013 trial solutions

Yeah i already understood this lol i'm just saying that that's not at all how i interpreted that wording. Like i interpreted that as we know one dice is a 1, therefore there is a 1 in 6 chance of the other dice also being a 1. Ah i now see why 9 isn't A, i assumed that closing the triangle...

    ruse 2013 trial solutions

See i completely disagree with this, if it says you KNOW you have at least one James Ruse student, it means the probability of having at least 1 James Ruse student is 1. So you're dividing by 1. It implies that the first case has already happened, otherwise it wouldn't even need to bother saying...

    Geometry problem

well change D to E, and make the bisecting line intersect at D. It clearly doesn't bisect line BE

    Geometry problem

D isn't there at all. i mean construct line BD so that D lies on AC, but D is close to the point A.
  19. aDimitri

    Geometry problem

definitely not. pretty easy to see why, just draw an exaggerated case. place point D up near A and look at line BD. the section the subtends angle gamma is much much much shorter than the section that subtends angle alpha.

    ruse 2013 trial solutions

    My multiple choice was 1- A 2- A 3- B 4- D 5- B 6- ? 7- C 8- D 9- A 10- ?
