It would only get moderated to a 99 or 100 if the person who was ranked first managed to get that, and everyone else ranked behind him followed the same pattern of attaining high marks. If internal highest = 50 and external highest = 50 then that shows OP's cohort wasn't strong at all.

Just study hard and try to get your ranks up for all your subjects to the top. Constantly do past papers as the year progresses as it is beneficial.

Nah. Just because you make notes yourself does not mean you'll get a band 6. Why bother making your own notes? BOS has numerous sets of notes from different people. Use a few of them, merge them together to create a set of notes that you think covers every dot point.
