Not with a good finance job. None of this really matters. I honestly think they'd take someone with an arts degree if they had the right skills (though unlikely).
All this ATAR talk about how one cutoff is higher and whether they draw implications from this sounds like bullshit.
Though if...
You'd be hard pressed to find how much money each firm is paying. I think a careers fair is a good place to start to look for firms that want to hire graduates.
Talk to HR about the recruitment process - they'll be there are the careers fair, or send through an email.
don't do insurance... nobody wants to be an actuary
i'm combining with finance because it means i got like a whole years' worth of "electives" that i can do
a quant finance major at ANU is one extra course above actuarial studies, and takes an extra year (if combined with actuarial studies)...
according to my economics lecturer,
all (competitive) firms earn 0 profits in the long run
thats pretty pessimistic, and i don't understand why
anyone enlighten me on this concept?
what if you got accused of conspiring to get rid of actuarial students to increase salaries or decrease competition or whatever. consider this viewpoint: if more people came in, obviously these people will be a lower intellect in general, so the smarter kids would look smarter, the more talented...
you're in first year dude. its a fucking blast
i averaged 90 in first year without fucking trying (and thats 10 marks above a HD).
first year actuarial studies is exactly the same as first year finance, you havent felt anything yet buddy. just wait til 3rd year, or if you're at ANU, 2nd...
LOL 4CHAN?!!!
HAHAHAHHAHA
i heard theyre a fucking bunch of virgin geeks or something
NO im not from 4chan. NO im not trying to prevent kids from doing actuarial (coz most of the retards get fucked over anyway). and NO im not trying to reduce supply to increase salaries (its gonna be high...
thanks mate
ill tell you right now, UBC would be a preference for me, but relations between ANU and UBC are on hold atm, so no can go :(
i'll check out toronto, however, i meant FINANCE, not business... there is no way im doing any accounting business shit.
would you reorder any of...
why the fuck do you want to do marketing?
imo, marketing should be put into the arts faculty. and so should economics.
from thinking about actuarial studies, to thinking about marketing...
dude, get ambitious, make goals and chase them fucking down.
ANU is FUCKING AWESOME
We have the most fun here. It has a young population... lots of uni kids
Its a slow town though, yeh, but Sydney is only a 3 hour drive, and Melbourne, 7.
ANU also has fucking AWESOME lecturers. Seriously, the quality of education that I get in my undergraduate...
Re: Which cut off do I use as a guide for the mid-year admissions? 2008 Main round or
just submit anything
as long as u submit it, you can change them until january next year
so just submit anything and ull be fine
Re: What UAI/course are you aiming for?
jus a quick suggestion
if u get 99.55, dont do usyd law "just coz i made the cutoff"
or dont do usyd med "just coz i got 99.95, didnt fk the umat too bad, and im not socially retarded enough to fk up an interview"
law is a shit load of reading...
not a good decision.
umat tutoring doesnt work - its a waste of money
try going thru past papers and just practise
you'll learn everything about the style of the question from there
umat tutoring is expensive, and it doesnt work... it is like an IQ test...
