Kind of off-track, but just what exactly is so funny? I'm really kind of confused by the amount of 'ahahahahahhahahahahahahahaha'-ing in your post. Are you legitimately asking for our responses?
Even so, surely those numbers are still national numbers...? Maybe I'm really out of the loop but isn't there only one intake per year for clerkships in Sydney?
It's just what I've heard from former clerks/current grads is that the usual number of clerks taken on by top tiers is at most 50-60...
Got Freehills
Rejected from Mallesons, Bakers
Waiting on Allens
Bit surprised about Freehills since my law average is only 76 or so, and I have no legal work experience, or any law-related extracurrics.
I'm at Usyd and Commerce sucks here. Mixed bag of lecturers and tutors (primarily bad ones), too many international students, crappy courses with only a few relevant/good ones thrown in.
That said, I'm still glad I'm at Usyd and not UNSW.
I'd rather be a stay-at-home Mum than an accountant! I don't see what's offensive about it...?
But seriously, law isn't really that stressful. In terms of studying law, it's all about being able to reason and write clearly. A strong grasp of language is certainly beneficial. I'm a...
I thought CS were well and truly done with their IB summer recruitment already?
I know a girl who did a MnA summer internship at Macq. She didn't like it and ended up going into Equities (sales though, not trading) at CS. So I guess the switch is possible, but went through the grad path and...
Yeah, there were the mini-fridges and drinks. Some guy in my testing session was like "what if the drinks are a there as a test or something? Like, they might be watching to see who takes drinks..."
You get a crappy little calculator and pen and paper for the psych test. The calculator is the worst ever, and I kept missing buttons :|
I found the first section (shape sequences) quite tight for the time. The numerical and reasoning were alright.
But the calculator freaking sucks.
Short answer is yes. I'm in the 3rd year of a 5-year double degree and I'm doing a summer internship in Finance this year. Generally, companies want 'real' penultimates so they can pipeline them into the graduate program, but some are happy to take on a few pre-penultimates. Others won't even...
I know of at least one guy who got into MacCap (well it was IBD back then) with a credit average. Great extracurriculars though, and just all around top bloke.
No matter how great your marks or extracuricculars/how good you look on paper, if you're someone who can't hold a decent conversation...
