How do you study for English?

Just try and see if you can answer as many essay questions as possible. I don't mean writing out new essays for each, but try and see if you can directly address what the questions are asking of you and test if the material you've learnt can be applied.

What do you do in your study breaks?

Just computer mainly. And perhaps getting some food. Gosh I sound lazy. I cannot wait for this to be over.

Better to answer essay question or syllabus??

Well, the question we get for the HSC will definitely be based on the syllabus. They cannot examine you on something outside the syllabus, so the question will definitely relate to the syllabus in some way, shape or form. Hence you should always answer the question. It is possible to incorporate...

    will they ever ask....?

Very unlikely that they will but if they were feeling mean, they could. And they aren't obligated to give you the poem either because you're meant to know the set text, i.e. all 6 poems.

    In search of some advice...

It's a good thing you're feeling relatively prepared. Just keep doing what you're doing. Don't completely stop studying but at the same time don't study your butt off when you really don't need to be.

Norway beats Australia for quality of life top spot

Oh really? Not surprising given the trends of the last ten years, but a lot has changed since the GFC. Doesn't seem to have had that much of an impact on these results though.

    Ha! That's amusing.

Birthday Letters - How many poems...?

I'd say focus at the very minimum on two poems, and range across the other poems. The set text is the anthology, not the individual poems themselves. The 6 poems elected for study are expected to be well learned. Choosing only one poem doesn't really give you much of a scope for examining how...

Yeh I agree, seems like a pretty good choice.

Creative writing - do you title your masterpiece?

It's the convention of the narrative text type to have a title, so yes, it is advisable to have one.

    Is this paragraph entirely awful?

Hey, it's not entirely awful, but it's not perfect. I know you said you have a lot of trouble with english, but I think you need a bit more direction with your paragraph. It expresses general ideas that you might jot down as part of notes, but it doesn't really form an argument as such. Maybe...
