I'm extremely biased because I love ancient history, but I don't know anyone at my school that doesn't enjoy it. The workload can get a bit heavy if you don't stay on top of it, but it's easy to catch up on. I find the ancient content interesting, but thats just me. There's four topics...

You do need to complete the prelim course to move onto the hsc one, so I have no idea how they managed that. All I know of that you can pick up are extension subjects. So maths, english and history. (Sorry if I missed some)

The markers hate pre-prepared memorised essays. If you change one sentence in every paragraph to suit the question it's blatantly obvious to them what you've done. Our teachers have told us how sick the markers get of it too. It's better to memorise key quotes, thesis, etc and mould them to...

I live in Coffs as well. I'm not 18 yet, but my friend's don't rave about the nightlife here. However, our beaches are pretty good. I'm a fan of Sawtell beach, there's some nice cafes along the main street as well. The cops don't seem to be too hard on parties either. I've been to a few 18ths...

We've got through basically all of it, just need to finish up the last few dot points. Our teacher tried to get through nearly a dot point a lesson (we've got 2 hour lessons) so we could get everything done. Its pretty hectic

I change my mind ALOT! At the moment I've been playing around with surrealism in photography, its not something thats too common so I might stick to it. Have to say I'm excited for the holidays to get some decent work done on it! :)

I'm one of those people who needs to know every little detail when it comes to ancient, so yeah, I'd only be using it as a study guide. Haha.. it doesn't help my other subjects with the amount of effort I put into ancient.

If anyone gets the opportunity, get yourself a copy of the History Teachers Association Study Guide. In relation to the Cities of Mt Vesuvius it covers all the dot points of the syllabus and in some cases is better than the textbook I'm using. Not only that it covers Crete, Old Kingdom Egypt...
