    My 4unit tutor =/?

Just because other people do it doesn't mean its necessary. Seriously, $75 an hour to get taught a course which you could probably teach yourself is obscene.

If you don't get a ATAR you expect can you repeat HSC?

You would probably be better of just heading to uni for a similar course if you didnt get your atar. There isnt much point repeating just 2units of study, or more if you were happy with your results. And remember, your rank might not be as good as you want now, but you still have 85% internal to...

Yes, I'm a Gosford boy, although a wee '10er. I've known Nat since year 5, and Sarah's my girlfriend so I'll say hello to her from you when I see her. Congrats again on an awesome atar =) Oh, and by the way thanks for all the info about the philosophy course you posted, I'm doing it next year...

Does your school post your cumulative rankings?

Our school doesn't post them outside the staffrooms, but they usually pass around a list with the ranks for the assessment and the cumulative ranks, or the teacher reads them out (unless anyone objects). Mind you, the language teachers never give out ranks, we only ever find them out on the...

Do HSC sciences need more maths?

I don't think any more maths content needs to be insterted into the course. However, there should be more genuine problem solving questions (which inheritly require the use of maths) which actually require students to think about a problem, and not regurgitate random historical facts. Why is...

    Should I repeat year 12?

No need to abuse the OP telling them they are stupid people. You really can't tell that from what they've said. Anyway, a friend of mine from work (now in her late 20s) repeated the HSC and said it was a great decision, and there is nothing wrong or embaressing about repeating year 12...

    Anyone got 99+ without tutoring?

Im assuming you were asking me. I got 98 in maths and 91 in english. Extremely happy with band 6 for english. And to make this post slightly on topic, I didn't get tutoring for either of them.

to get a 99 ATAR is it true that you need a band 6 in 10units?

A friend of mine got 99.4 with an 88 in English, and those were her only units of English. There were quite a few people from my school who just missed out on an all-rounders award but got over 99. Go play around on SAM to get a feel for it, but its quite possible. In fact, its possible to get...

    Anyone got 99+ without tutoring?

Both the kids who got 99.95 at my school w/o any real tutoring. We had 5 99.90's and im pretty sure none of them got tutored. In fact, I think only 1 person who got over 99 had tutoring. I think a lot of it comes down to confidence to do the HSC without a tutor. Mind you a few of the girls...

    2010 Philosophy Distinction course

Not sure where they met, but the residentials last year were held over a single weekend staying over saturday night with the option of staying there friday night to make things easier. Apparently they flew a kid in from Nimbin last year, with all costs paid. Last year the mid january package...

    Anyone here receive 99.95 atar?

dizzyliz did, she also scored a few state ranks. Theres probably way more they just might not necessarily post regularly, or want to post their ATAR as they dont want to seem like theyre boasting.

How to be a nurse with a crap ATAR??

My mum just finished her nursing degree at UNCLE, and really, no one cares what uni you go to for nursing, maybe if you do postgrad studies, but not for a Bachelor of Nursing. I think the main difference is the calliber of the students you will be studying with, and the quality of the teaching...

How does your maths teacher teach maths?

I'm guessing because hes doing year 10 maths, which is obscenely boring. Mind you, come HSC time there won't be much point, because you will find more interesting questions (with answers) in past HSCs and your textbook, especially doing 4U. Personally I don't see how making your own question up...

    Mathematics (2u) Scaling

Got 96 externally, probably got 110-114. 2u maths scales pretty well at both ends of the spectrum. BOS doesn't like giving people low marks cos it makes them look bad, which is awesome for us =)

Heya Caitlin, thanks heaps. Congratulations to you too =) GHS win! See you all at the first residentials, looking forward to it.

    Becoming first in a course.

Don't get your hopes up too much though, a girl at my school (who was accelerated) was first internally, only lost 1 mark all year (in the trials) and even had full marks in prelim ext 1, but she only ended up with 96 for her HSC mark. I mean that's an awesome mark, but it still isn't a first in...

Congrats to everyone. GHS pride! 3 state ranks woo! Fun fact though, annabelle, the girl who came 1st in physics was ranked 4 internally, behind sarah (1st in french) and chris (1st in engineering). Chris was a physics olympian too. Chris and sarah for 99.95 too woo! Come on GHS top 20 again =)...
