    Assessment ranks are in!

I'm sure that we aren't tied, since we all got to see our ranks and marks on a big power point presentation (not very private for those who didn't do so well). I already fired off an email to my maths teacher. I feel too guilty 'scamming' these ranks away from them.

    Assessment ranks are in!

I was 3/104 for MX2 and got bumped up to 1/104.. hmmm. I'll keep quiet about this. ;)

    Euthanasia

It should be legal only for purposes in which the individual's death would benefit him/her more than life. There should be no argument -- 'life is too precious/religious beliefs etc.' is of no importance.

    Multiple Choice Question Sheet

Hey, The sheet contains random working and stuff. It also has the answers circled except for one question, sorry. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=B19YFVF2

The question with the synchronised clocks

It's just explaining it in terms of the relativity of simultaneity. Same sort of thing as the train-clock thing from Jacarada.

    Mass defect

You have to deduct the electron mass from the total mass.

    Multiple Choice

When the broken ring passes the left edge of the magnetic field, it experiences a change in flux -> induced emf. When it passes out of the magnetic field moments later, it also experiences a change in flux -> induced emf. While it is inside the B field, there is no change in flux, so induced emf...

    General Thoughts: Physics

I don't know if it was necessary, but I also noted that a second anode could be used to focus the beam. Sometimes electron guns have a second anode to 'brighten' the picture.

    how much did you write?

I also wrote that the increased efficiency of transmission led to lower costs, which would increase our dependance on electricity, leading to more overuse, yada yada negative externality this and that from economics :D

    Serious question

They might be nice and let you off for mixing up the frequencies, who knows.

    Thanks

    Citation needed..

calculation for the number of photons?!

HELL YEAH! I talked about the the difference in energies and then how the red light must have a greater intensity relative to the blue light since they have the same power.

    Aligning

Apparently some people think it will be around upper 80s.

calculation for the number of photons?!

What would you have written for the question where they asked you to compare/contrast(?) the difference between the 1MW red and blue laser?
  15. W

    Multiple Choice

I think he means question 20..

    Multiple Choice

    You assume thrust is constant.

calculation for the number of photons?!

    I guess you'll lose 1??

    Part B?

    I guess -1 mark?
  19. W

    Part B?

    Goodie :D:D

    Part B?

You always assume it's a circle since all of the equations contain the radius. v=[2(pi)r]/T probably would have worked. I think the values were 350KM altitude, 6730KM Earth radius and 5.97x10^24kg Earth mass. Try both methods and if you get the same answer, you can probably expect full marks...
