So those of you who got tutored, do you think it really made a difference?

Tutoring is good for re-inforcing the concepts. I had a maths tutor for 3U, my piano teacher for Music lessons and my Mum's a Physics teacher so I went to her for everything. If you're motivated enough to study by yourself then you don't really need a tutor. I think it did make a difference, coz...

How much money have you spent on your HSC?

Well... School fees: $200 ish Tutoring: $60 per week during school terms, so approx $1860 Lectures: $500, easily.. Travelling to Lectures: $200 or so Plus all the electricity used, paper, ink, pens, tim tams.. Brings it up to around $3000... Wow, I'm expensive :S Finishing the HSC: Priceless.

Is the School for excel;lence overrated?

The best thing about TSFX for me was to see my competition and get a second opinion on the course I was studying. Being from a pretty bad central coast school, I was able to work out how much more I had to study to keep up with Sydney and selective school standards. However. If I was to do my...

    Thoughts??

I thought it was an okay test, but I'm not expecting a band 6 or anything.. I finished with about half an hour to spare, just reading over my answers trying to work out if they were right or not. Hated the MC and drawings, but for once I didn't mind the 'Historical and Societal Influences' part...

    Life after hsc

Enjoying my lazy days listening to music and reading :) Though I'm still in HSC mode, I get guilty and wonder whether I should be studying, or doing something.. I'm getting the time to plan what I really want out of this life (eg uni, travel, learning a new language) and it's all very exciting...

    Impact of Medical Physics Discussion

Hmm late reply lol. Personally I wanted to do Astro but my class wouldn't let me do my own thing so I have some Medical notes. I have a feeling this will be in the HSC so here are my thoughts: Assess means make a judgement and show both sides of the argument. Positive impacts of Medical...

wat do u think was da hardest question

The repayment question where you had to find how many months it took and 9 iv-v I didn't even attempt, I know I screwed up the radium Q, and probably lots of other silly mistakes.. I'm glad I started the exam backwards (ie start with Q10, then Q9 etc) coz Q10 was really easy for me, and Q1-3...

    Tomorrow

Yeah, I felt really good after leaving the exam today for 2U, but right now 3U is coming up, and it's daunting me. I'm worried that because 2U was fine for me, that somehow the BoS is going to screw me over :S Also, I'm the only one doing 3U at my school so I'll be there, in a lonely room with...

Music 1- How to answer aural questions thread

I have a few pointers for aural that I've heard from teachers and others that I think are pretty good: ~ Listen to anything and everything. Grab some old records from people you know, tune into the really out-there radio stations and gain an appreciation for music as a whole. Past papers for...

    Help! Loan Repayments Question

Yeah, interest is applied to the 'A' or amount before the monthly repayment is decreased from the total 'A' for the next installment after it. That way, when you derive an equation for 'An', the interest on 'M' becomes a geometric series. It also makes sense that interest would be added on to...

    Engineering Drawings

Hey, don't worry, I'm left-handed and can barely write, let alone draw haha. Drawings always let me down in EST.. But I've been looking at past HSC papers and asking my teacher about it, and just continually practising drawing with a compass, using my set squares etc.. I think like everything...

    engineering studies

Engineering studies for me is pretty difficult, but it has given me a possibility that I could do Engineering as a career if my primary goal doesn't work out. It has stacks of content, and some of it does overlap with Physics, Maths and Chemistry. If you can handle all the content you need to...

What HSC exam are you most nervous about?

Engineering Studies and Physics are really stressing me out... Adv + Ext Maths are OK-ish, but not 100% confident.. English will be bad if I mis-read the question (which I sometimes do..) Seriously, there needs to be better resources for Engineering Studies, especially when I have such a bad...

    Pulley Systems!!

I'm trying to find information for Pulley Systems for my Engineering Report, and having some troubles. For instance, I can't find anything extensive on materials used, manufacturing methods, heat treatments etc.. If anyone has any resources or websites, it would be greatly appreciated! :) I...

    How hard are your exams?

............woah. I'm from the Central Coast and am the only one in my school doing 3 unit (no 4 unit).. I've been averaging about 75%-80%. I have no chance against you people... *cries*

    anyone have dodgy engineering teachers?

My pre-lim teacher had no idea at all what he was doing, so the rest of the idiots in my class bludged the whole year 11 and the teacher couldn't help me at all. Now we have a slightly better engineering teacher but because we've missed out on heaps of work he skims through alot, leaving me...
