the only part i don't understand is when you turn ]\frac{1.35x}{0.7} into x\tfrac{2889}{700} by multplying by 2.14 can you please explain how to do that?

that's what i got on the online calculator/solver. But as you can see everyone is coming up with different answers..... hmmmmm

let's just say my maths is very rusty, i'm just working through some old tut's to get it back to where it was. i know the two 10 values cancel out, just need someone to show me that i did the carrying over correctly.

[(x * 1.35) / (0.7)] + 10 + [x / (2.14)] - [7 / (0.7)] =50 does that help?
