Which ethnicities/ethnicity is a NO for you?

You are right. The Chinese languages are not mutually intelligible. Not in the spoken form. But the written forms don't differ significantly, really. 侬是上海人--->Shanghainese, "You are Shanghainese" 你是上海人--->Mandarin And common vocab does not imply mutual intelligibility of the spoken languages.

Which ethnicities/ethnicity is a NO for you?

My friend, I said, distinctively, [Most] Wu dialects. The Wuu dialects are not mutually intelligible, do you expect them to be the same in this respect??

Which ethnicities/ethnicity is a NO for you?

First of all, i suspect that you can actually speak Shanghainese, because to say that Wuu does not have tones is absolutely laughable. Most Wuu dialects have 8 tones (or 3 under modern classification). And, there is genetic diversity throughout the Han ethnicity in general, but there has...

Which ethnicities/ethnicity is a NO for you?

Haven't thought about it. Don't have much clue how a Uyghur looks like either, never been to Western China before.

Which ethnicities/ethnicity is a NO for you?

Chinese for me. Wouldn't say no to Koreans, but, no offence, not Japanese or Vietnamese. I do not consider them inferior in any sense, just cannot deal with the cultural difference. Not anyone of European ancestry either, East, West, North, South or middle. Same reason, too different...

Really pissed off by some topics in the syllabus

Some of the topics just have got nothing to do with anything :( like, project management tools, communication techniques(e.g. interviews, user meetings, etc), copyright laws, software market and that. I mean, when in the future a company decide to hire me they will not be expecting a programmer...

UQ - traditional or bastardized? 正體字還是殘字

BTW, the errr sound is a feature of certain dialects belonging to the Mandarin group. Mind you, a PHNOLOGY feature. The Americans will always pronounce the word "schedule" as "skejule", whether it's written in Latin alphabeta as "schedule", or Cyrillic alphabet as "скедул". Do you get it? I...

UQ - traditional or bastardized? 正體字還是殘字

first of all, the simplified Chinese characters set is NOT a communist invention; attempts made to simplidied Chinese characters date back to the ROC reign, and almost exactly the same character set was adopted as 一简字 Secondly, many of the characters are not invented after all. Some are from...

    astrophysics.

Why are you still so keen to know, mate... doesn't matter anymore... Anyway, using photometry you can work out the surface temperature. Now, you should have talked about determining the luminosity class(e.g. dwarf star, giant star, white dwarf, T-Tauri,....) when discussing pressure broadening...

About the percentile for maths ext 2

Oh. I see then. It scared me really, 1 in every 4 gets above 110.......

About the percentile for maths ext 2

Just to clarify, the marks input are HSC marks, that is, the average of raw mark and moderated internal mark. The output was percentile, not scaled marks, which is the position of the particular HSC mark among all candidates.

About the percentile for maths ext 2

Hi folks. The other day I input a mark of 92% (i.e. 110/120 of raw mark) into one of those ATAR calculators online. ( it uses 2009 data, BTW) I think it was either Matrix or Talent 100. The output in the field "percentile" was 75%. Then I changedthe input into 94% and the subsequent percentile...

    Exam mechanics question

Oh, I must apologise for not reading through the thread properly then. It's my fault. Never meant to get your teacher involved either, just that I was taught by a coaching institute called "intuition", if you happen to have heard of it, that the terminal velocity was lim t-> infinity V. Quite...
