    balancing equations

    I like to write down how much of each atom (by itself) there is on each side of the equation. For example, on the left (reactants), I'd write: C = 8 H = 4 O = 3 And I do the same for the right hand side (products). It's best to try and balance everything else first, and the oxygens at the end...

    Need help with this syllabus point

    Honestly, I doubt it's ever asked in the actual HSC. For me, I remember my tutor telling me to just make someone up, just in case they ever did ask about it in the HSC. If you make it up, you should obviously try to make it seem legit.
