Class of 2025 (2025 HSC CHAT)

Ohhhh nice job, our teacher kinda skipped over those dot points and moved on to DNA and cell replication. If you sort it out in your head I'd really appreciate it if you could explain it a little :pold: About subjects, that's really cool! Bio and eco is a pretty big workload but they are...

    physics is easier than chem

I think physics requires a lot of problem solving on the spot, but often it comes to choosing the right formulas and subbing the right values in

    early entry + scaling

Yeah, of course you can get a good ATAR if you do poor-scaling subjects. It might just be a bit harder, but if you're able to do well in all of them I'm sure you'll do well nonetheless. If you work hard, above 90 is certainly achievable, and 85+ definitely. In terms of hospitality, it does scale...

    drop economics

Some schools have policies so that you're not allowed to drop to 10 units in the first term of yr 12 if an extension subject is part of that 10 units (excluding maths and eng ext 1), because you've just picked them up and you need to prove that you can do well in them first. Just fyi

    Is this ranking ok?

Actually it's good that you know your ranks in year 10 because now you can work towards your goals with more sureness. If it's not what you hoped, year 11 is a good time to get your study and exam skills together in time for year 12.

    Is this ranking ok?

yeah I agree with synthesis, and it also depends on who your peers are and thus what kind of people you're comparing yourself to

Chinese Beginners or IDT for year 11/12?

Also, this sounds really bad. Teachers are meant to be objective, but sometimes things like that happen. You'll find that in senior years the school puts more effort into reducing bias in marking, for example, in written exams you only write your NESA number not your name so that the marker...

Chinese Beginners or IDT for year 11/12?

Hmm you're risking it a bit by doing that. Not having formal education in Chinese qualifies you for Continuers, not Beginners. For Beginners, you're meant to have had no spoken or written experience in Chinese at all, unless you did a Chinese course in your junior years (which I'm assuming you...

Chinese Beginners or IDT for year 11/12?

Are you Chinese? Because then you can't do Chinese Beginners, but you can do Chinese Continuers. If you aren't Chinese but you're already fluent at speaking, you'll be fine doing Beginners because the reading and writing part is very simple. Knowing how to speak already sets you up for success.

Class of 2025 (2025 HSC CHAT)

Yeahh there's a lot, but I feel like there's actually no need to learn things in so much detail. If you look at the past paper questions, it's pretty clear what's expected. By how moss reproduces, do you mean alternation of generations? Because my teacher said it wasn't really important to know...

KISS Chem and Physic notes plss

For physics, our teacher uploaded KISS notes to a google drive. It might be worth asking your teacher. They're great, but I'm not really sure how you can get them for free.

HSC - How much time are you spending studying?

Ok this is kind of a basic question, but I want to know how much time everyone is allocating to studying for the HSC. This applies to new HSCers (class of 2025) and graduates when you did your HSC. What is sustainable? Also, what subjects tend to take up disproportionate amounts of time?
