    Math Tutoring

Math Clinic (assuming they still run it) would probably be your best option. It runs every week day around lunch time in the honours room (small room on the 2nd floor, I can't remember what number it is). There should be a timetable on the door. It's run by honours and 2nd/3rd year students and...

Whats the most underrated/overrated aspect about UNCLE?

Good news about Borwein :). I checked out his old website and he seems to have a lot of interesting stuff on there. I have also been doing a bit of daydreaming lately about coming back in 2009 to do honours, probably a mixture of applied and pure. how has hons been going? crazy difficult? ...

    Maths!

second semester 3xxx courses suck! the good ones are all in first semester (at least from what i have experienced), that said, i would recommend topology (3180), algebra (3120), and topics in applicable (3720). Nb. I have not done (and will never do) algebra, and topology has changed...

    Assumed Knowledge

dont worry you're not missing anything good, what it lacks in maths it makes up for in sheer volume of work in mind numbing assignments/projects.

    Assumed Knowledge

it is entirely possible to have only have done 2 unit and go well in maths at uni, it just might take a little bit more work. one of my friends only did 2 unit and they regularly kicked my arse in maths subjects we did together. oh yeah, civil engineering isnt too hardcore when it comes to the...

    Mining engineering transfer??

transfer is NOT guaranteed*. it is fairly easy to do though. i think if you passed every subject in the first two years at newcastle you would be virtually assured a place at unsw/uow. required software microsoft office microsoft visual studio (or some other FORTRAN 90 compiler)...
