Sorry to drag this out guys, but let me just make my aim a bit clearer. If say, at the end of the day, i want to open up my own small firm and deal with my own clients directly and maybe have another one or two lawyers with me, becoming a 'prominent' lawyer in building a reputation/client base...

Lol what i meant by barrister being a big gun is the cash they earn. I mean 6 grand a day for a one with a good reputation obviously, id be happy with for the rest of my life lol without even trying to become SC.. So are you saying that if one works for themselves, its not possible to earn 6-7...

Yeah thats cool, i never planned on working for myself straigh outa uni, but would people with knowledge/experience recommend working for a crim law firm out of uni, or for a smaller, say family run business? Im guessing the big firms pay more, but the smaller business gives greater...

    Law Path

Hey guys, I'm an aspiring law student who is about to start uni, and doing law has always been my ambition right from the start. What hasn't been so clear is what field i would like to get into out of a couple of the major options. I've always thought either criminal law or commercial law but...

    Opinions please :)

You mean UNSW. This is the first year whereby if you get a UAI of 95+ and a 75 WAM in a non-law course in the first year, they guarantee you a position in combined law second year. They no longer go through UAC. Only if you don't meet these requirements, you've gotta try your luck like everyone...

    Public Holidays

Just wanted to ask if anyone knows for sure whether or not universities close on public holidays throughout the year, more specifically UNSW. Say for instance you had tutorials on that day etc, what happens? Cheers

    Which is the easier transfer??

Yeah it's a new scheme they've brought out this year. I got a letter from UNSW because my UAI is above 95, but less than 99.3, and law was one of my preferences. It says that if you fulfill those requirements, they GUARANTEE you a spot, being an internal transfer, rather than trying your luck...

    Which is the easier transfer??

Sorry to revive this, but reading back, I just got a bit confused. 'Mrated96' says he got two 74's but his WAM (78) is obviously not an average of his marks.. For some reason its increased :S On the other hand, 'whatashotbyseve' reckons a WAM mark is a straight average?? Can someone please clear...

    Unsw Law

I rekn it will be considerably lower due to the government getting rid of the domestic fee paying positions for the first time, in 2009. In saying that, i have no idea how many positions were offered to DFEE students in the past.. it might not be much at all, so as to lower the uai cut-off...

    Which is the easier transfer??

Righto boys, preferences in and all locked up. I put commerce at UNSW before combined law at UTS, and i should get in. Now i gotta work at that 75 WAM :read: Just want to thank all for your help. Cheers!
