    I'm not saying the Ivy League schools are the only good schools in the country, I am aware that there are othe very very good schools outside the Ivy League like MIT, Duke, USC, UC Berkeley, Stanford and the list goes on.. I'm talking about NO NAME schools! something like Arkansas Community...

    that's because medicine and law are only offered in grad schools. I'm just saying people there don't apply to the courses they want to do...they apply to the college they want to go..hence the brand names are important. No matter what major you pick, if you got into Harvard it's gonna sound...

    I'm sure the name of her undergrad university isn't the sole selection criteria. But keep in mind..brand names and prestige are VERY important in America...in America when they get into Uni they don't tell people "oh I got into Medicine!" or "oh I got into Law!" no noo nooooo:hammer...

    I am well aware of that thank you..its like USyd where anyone with a 70 something uai up to 100 could go there..it just depends on the courses you take...but we DO have a very different system here. ANU IS the best ranked aussie uni, what I'm saying is..if that girl wants to do a postgrad...

    The dude is dead right. Some schools ask for your reports from yr9 allllll the way to yr12.. bloody ridiculous!

    ANU is ranked very high internationally...as high as 16th according to one of the ranking systems. This although is lower than any of the Ivy League it is still amazingly good. If you can get into ANU..by all means go for it! You'd save alot of money...and if you still want to go to america in...

    Useful tip: subject choices for those who are still in yr 10-11 if you plan on going to america..stay away from commerce subjects ie. Business studies, economics, legal etc...because they are USELESS in helping you getting into america unis, not only because things are different there, they do...

    I had an application ready for Notre Dame, Columbia, USC, U Michigan-Ann Abor, Penn State, Georgetown, UNC-Chapel Hill and even tried to apply to a few of the better UC's ie. Berkeley, LA.. Thennnn my parents decided that I have to pay for the application fees myself!! yeah at around US$40-$90...

    Yeah or the ghetto like UC Riverside...lol That's bcuz UC is state owned...if you want go to the private ones like USC which is also good but it is expensive..around the 50's(000) Although if ur out of stater/international you're still paying around the same at the public ones anyway
