    Motivation??

Thanks :) Umm it was a combo of the fact that I had just got my L's (early jan 2002), and that I am a little creative (though not with paper and pen lol) pre: ok cool :) Make sure it is semi-realistic, in that its not too many marks over what you hope to get (eg I expected 85, wanted 90...

    ed assist lectures

hmm. I went and didn't mind. Good quick revision, and mum was more than willing to pay for them (her part in helping me get my uai or something hah). Pricey tho.... 3x $300 :( :( :( Unless u have parents who want to pay for them, dont bother. Tho maths is worth it, if your average to good to...

    organising notes

Ummm what did I do... I have a nice (hell old and rusty but whatever) filing cabnit next to my desk. I reserved the whole top "compartment" for myself/study. I bought a good 12 of those "folders" that have metal runners for a filing cabnit, and a metal clamp to hold in notes. VERY GOOD...

    Motivation??

Heh... wonder what would have happened if it was 100 :) The highlighting failing/passing was good - at a quick glance, depending on which colour outweighted the other - I could tell how I was going... and through the year I tried to shake off the 4 or so red maths ones, with straight greens...

    Motivation??

Do what I did for year 12 :) I made a "scorecard" of all my assessments. Basically, a rectangular piece of paper, on one side I made a big 95 and a circle around it (speed limit like) on one side of the 20cm by 8cm or so page, and on the other a "HOW FAST ARE YOU GOING NOW". I attached this...

    This scaling up/down business!

I posted this elsewhere, should describe it all fine. According to the UAC scaling sheet (table 3) on their site, 2002 scaling.... 2U Maths: - 92.2 (90th percentile) would be scaled to 83.4 - 86.6 (75th percentile) would be scaled to 75.2. 4U Maths: - 90.8 (75th percentile)...

    Reactions to UAIs!

Bit of background knowledge: in yr 9 and 10, while I was in the advanced stream for eng/maths/science, I was really a bludger. Pretty much in the lower half of all 3, yet usually safe enough to stay in them. Mum and (family) friends got the idea that I was lazy etc..... so thats the battle I...

    HARD VS EASY Subjects

According to the UAC scaling sheet (table 3) on their site, 2002 scaling.... 2U Maths: - 92.2 (90th percentile) would be scaled to 83.4 - 86.6 (75th percentile) would be scaled to 75.2. 4U Maths: - 90.8 (75th percentile) would be scaled to 92.2 - 84 (50th percentile) would be scaled...

    Hey awesome, same course :)

    SMH Honour Roll...

Cuz they are 4u maths students. In 4U, extension1 counts as 2 units, extension2 counts as 2 units (thus the total of 4u) extension1 only (ie 3u) students should have it listed as only 1 unit of extension 1 maths

    what uni and course?

B Digital Media at UNSW, COFA I got 94.50 and it needs 91, so I'm 99% sure I'll be in :)

    lazseeker v actual

Lazseeker HSC: 96.30 Lazseeker percentiles: 93 to 91.50 (depending on my harshness - 93 is exactly my percentile, 91.50 was to contain my expectations of today) Real UAI: 94.50 luvin it. cheers lazseeker :)

    Lazseeker-Marks vs Percentiles!

Yeah I agree. My marks result was 96.30, and my percentage was 93, however I redid it being very harsh (like docing 5 percentile for every subject), and got 91.50 I'm happy with all of em :) I wonder just how accurate it is...

    Scared...

Perfect truthful advice. Most of the 2002 hsc students who got good marks (whatever ur definiton of good is), did it because they worked their respective asses off :) Put the work in, and you'll get there. Keep focused. Try and have a goal (eg... "Wow I REALLY wanna get into this course...

How do you use percentiles in Lazseeker?

85 is in the middle of band 5, which starts at 80, and band 6 starts at 90. I think thats right anyhow.... When estimating, dont give yourself the benefit of the doubt :) while 85 is in the middle of 80 and 90, assume its cloer to 80, as thats how the results may well be.

    2002 HSC Marks

I worked my ass off, and 92 was then a breeze, so to speak. My technique.... Summarised my textbook (jacaranda) to about 50 pages in size 12 Added into that the excel textbook (adding another 20) Learn the hell out of that. Do at least 5 practice papers for ur HSC and a few for your trial...

How do you use percentiles in Lazseeker?

yeah. For those out there who didn't pick that up, I'll explain it a little more in depth Say u got 85% HSC in subject x. Thats half way between 90 (band 6) and 80 (band 5). Go to this page: http://boredofstudies.org/bands.html When you are there, find your subject. Notice it has the...

    2002 HSC Marks

Bingo. My teacher was the senior HSC sdd marker and band description setter. Man you have no idea how much we bitched last year after finding out only 8 people got band 6 :) This year is much better. 69 people got band 6, so if I got 89%... I got equal 70th I guess? And IPT had 253 or something...

    Reality Check

Thanks bon. What I mean, "Whats 2 cum ahead", is that last year was the new hsc, the board fucked up a bit, some syllabus's were a bit out of whack, fewer people read the criteria when answering questions etc. This year, things are better for students and students are doing better. As a...
