    How hard is the first year of Engineering

    Yep contact hours are around 24 hours per week for a first year. That's not including time to do your online quizzes, assignments and study. The labs take up a good chunk of the contact hours. Probably best to try and keep up each week although I know people who just cram during the study week...

    Your close uni friends are usually the ones where you are all in the same classes together as opposed to those you see maybe one class a week. In engineering, you are in the same tutorials/labs/lectures with the same people for the first 3 years which definitely helps.

    I've seen this a few times here but can anyone shed any light if an employer will look at which uni you went to? Or do they moreso look at what grades you got and your personality? Cheers.

    Not too sure about later years but so far first year doesnt have anything from Motors and Generators. I don't think we've done anything that goes into Motors and Generators a whole lot.

    yes. well for electrical you need to do a programming subject so a laptop is handy.

    So if I was to transfer from UOW to UNSW in electrical engineering, are the courses similar enough that I can just keep on going 2nd year at UNSW without catching up? I.e I can transfer most of my credit points over?? I think thats what I meant.

    thought i coulda gone better in physics, surprised at my english mark considering its my shittest subject and i came 22nd.

    I got what I expected in most subjects, apart from physics i thought i coulda got better, didnt surprise myself but still happy. comparing myself to other 4unit students, I only did good. that is all.
