    x3(x2-9)-8(x2-9) = 0 (X³-8)(X²-9) = 0 (X³-2³)(X²-3²) = 0 (X - 2) (X² + 2X + 4)(X + 3) (X - 3) = 0 X = +- 3 X = 2 Thanks :D

    but musn't they both be positive because they are squared?

    In the extension 1 text book there was this problem... Solve: X² > A² The only solution I can see from that is |X| > |A| But the text book answer is X < -A, X > A Is the text book wrong or am I missing something?
