    accommodation and life at UNE

sorry I took so long to reply - I was away on holiday. Um, generally I think you can talk to the residential office and set up your plan for payment. The way they do it by default is to send an invoice via email around the beginning of every term outlining the cost for the term. I usually pay...

    accommodation and life at UNE

There aren't any tv connections in the rooms, so you have to use rabbit ears if you bring a tv. There are tvs in the common rooms though. The colleges are about 15 minutes walk from the uni. It's all on the same land, and the walk is pretty nice. The uni has been trialling bus subsidies for...

    accommodation and life at UNE

The people on the floors are mixed years. Some floors will have more first years than others, but it's pretty much mixed, because returning residents get to choose which room they go to for the next year via a preference system. Generally the college tries to group people together by degree...

    accommodation and life at UNE

I don't go to Duval college but it is a pretty nice college overall. The rooms are pretty decent, but they are about the same size as any of the others. The flexi-choice system is good, it does mean that there's not pressure to eat down in the dining hall if you choose not to. You'll be able...

    Law at UNE

I'm a third year business/law student at UNE. I'm very happy with the degree so far. The stuff we are taught is the exact same as the other universities, because after all there isn't much room to move when you're teaching legislation or areas such as contracts. The lecturers are all very nice...

    honest opinions

It's all just personal opinion, really. My opinion of D&S is completely opposite to yours. For a college that is apparently not 'very into it', they sure as hell go well in the inter-college comps... 1st in PT, 2nd in MB and 3rd in SFK last year... I would say that D&S is actually quite into...

    honest opinions

To be honest, those opinions are not very accurate and representative of the college system at all. Especially the 'detached' comment about D&S. If anything, Wright Village is the detached college.

    What to bring to college

It does get pretty hot at times. I know a fair few people who have fans and they were put to good use last november.

    What to bring to college

It would probably be best to contact the college office. They'll let you know what to do in a situation like this.

    No pets except goldfish?

Well I'm not from EPC and neither is the person I know with a turtle...so I guess there's more than one turtle within the residential system :P haha

Anyone else planning on UNE 2010?

There are bus stops right out front of most of the colleges, and the buses cost $2 each way last time I caught them. I know plenty of people who survive without cars. I managed to for a while but then I bought one and now I couldn't go without. I'm sure if you have friends there with cars they...

    No pets except goldfish?

I live at one of the colleges, and I do know somebody with a turtle, and someone with a walking fish....and sea monkeys for that matter. They're generally not too bad with it, though it's probably best to not attempt spiders/snakes lol. I'm sure you'd be pretty fine if you had "sea...

HARRY POTTER & THE DEATHLY HALLOWS - thoughts (SPOILERS!!)

To get in the Chamber of Secrets, you have to say the word "open" in Parseltongue. To open the Locket, Harry said "Open" in Parseltongue. Ron heard Harrry opening the locket, so Ron would've tried to re-create the sound at the entrance to the Chamber. He was obviously successful. I hope...

best interest rates for savings accounts

Variable means that the rate will change along with exchange rates. So, as they increase, your rate increases. As for 5.45%, it was that rate a while ago. I'm assuming they forgot to update it.
