Hey everyone, my name is Michael.
I sat the HSC in 2024 and achieved a perfect ATAR of 99.95. I also came first in state for Music Extension and third in music 2, while also achieving exemplary marks in all my other subjects as an all-round achiever.
My HSC marks are as follows:
97 in English...
Just as the title states.

My guide to getting a high mark in Standard English
So as you know Standard English is a terribly scaling subject, if you want a high ATAR it is widely recommended to not do it. However I did not listen to this advice. My advice is the same, if you want 95+, it's better to do decent in advanced...

I kinda wrote like this for my essays, a little tiny bit worse I'd say for conclusions/3rd body paragraphs.. uhh.. so, would HSC markers be able to decipher this?
Last image is a pic of my 1984 trial essay, which surprisingly got me an 18/20 despite how rushed it was even seen from the...
I am in advanced english atm but I don't know if I can handle the workload or expectations. I don't know if it's worth dropping to standard because it might be too easy/simplified. How should I determine my choice? I have till the end of the week.

"As students engage with the texts they consider how [the texts]... shapes their own...

Does anyone have a PDF or list of complex vocabulary I could use to make my essays and short responses sound more sophisticated? (and yes I looked through every website for a vocab list but they're not good enough)
Me and this guy were so close in English there was a 0.7 course mark difference. It got me pondering... Is it possible for schools to submit 2 people as first to NESA? What if there is a genuine tie??
