As the title of the thread says, what topics/modules for Modern are you doing in class? I'll start off first:

World War One (likewise for everyone)
Germany 1918-1939
Albert Speer
Conflict in the Pacific OR Conflict in Europe (help me choose guys! :) )

So where are you up to at the moment? We've just started Speer, and we're jumping from his Nuremberg war trial to his architctural career.

Re: What topics are you doing?

WW1
Germany 1918-1939
Albert Speer
Conflict in Europe

I'd say go for 'Conflict in Europe'. It just builds on really well from the topics you've learnt before, so everything flows really nicely :) And it's so interesting!!

Anyway, how come you get to choose the topic you want to do? Our teachers chose for us - not that I'm complaining.
<3 this course. Seriously hope I can stick it out. :)

Re: What topics are you doing?

Well our teacher wanted to have a class vote on the last topic. I had a breeze through the "Conflict in Europe" chapters, but I'm not sure, I seem to find Conflict in the Pacific more "new" and refreshing after the previous topics. Yeah I agree its interesting but I've done quite alot on the European aspects of WWII in previous years, and maybe the Pacific will be a good change.

Will just have to wait though. :D

Maybe Conflict in Indochina. (Hoping for Conflict in Pacific though)

I have aksed the teacher to self study Woodrew Wilson as a personality instead of Speer, but was rejected due to them wanting to 'standardize' marking, and make their job a little easier. :( Oh well

As for the last topic, will most likely self study Conflict in Pacific and do that in the Trials when the CSSA papers has all options available.

Has anyone successfully pulled it off in the past?

lol i spose if u study it u might. i tried it without the study in a pe exam last year. crash and burn. there's something really special about getting a zero on your paper.

You could try, but you should try to utilise your class periods to do that self-study as well with the International module. I was thinking of doing that with Conflict with Europe, but I'm gradually finding the Pacific option as an interesting one. You'd have to consider resources, time management in terms of finishing the concepts of the syllabus, the range of activities you might do- the best thing about this is that your own teaching is in your hands. Ask your teacher about this before you try anything though.
