ok here is our lil reduction one

In = Int. (pi/4 to pi/2) Cot^n(x) dx.

Show = 1/(n - 1) - I(n-2)

Thanks mateys !!!!

hmm this is a textbook reduction formula question:

In = ∫cotn.dx (from pi/4 - pi/2)

=∫cot2xcotn-2x.dx

=∫(cosec2x - 1)(cotn-2x)dx

=∫cosec2xcotn-2xdx - In-2 (by expansion)

=[-(cotn-1x)/n-1]pi/2pi/4 - In-2

the thing in the bracket should equal 1/n-1
thus:

In = 1/(n-1) - In-2
