jesus. you didn't even look on the front page of the MU thread.

there's a thread titled, who-woulda-guessed-it?, "GPA", in the mac thread.

Working out your overall GPA is complex, but this is for individual subjects

0 - 49 = Fail
50 - 64 = Pass
65 - 74 = Credit
75 - 84 = Distinction
85 - 100 = High Distinction.

Then working out the GPA:

GPA = (4D + 3C + 2P + 1O + 0F) divided by n.

D is the number of credit points gained at HD and D,
C is the number of credit points gained at CR,
P is the number of credit points gained at P,
O is the number of credit points gained at PC,
F is the number of credit points gained with an F grade.
n is the total number of credit points you have

One of my tutors told us that at MQ , they're lot more flexible with the marks and a that mark over 46 can still be considered a pass. So that's still good news...

No. That would be considered a Conceded Pass.

Well, there's no intrinsic difference between a pass and a conceded pass- they're worth the same GPA value, which is all that matters, really, not your marks.

i'm kidding :p

does anyone know the real reason why d and hd are worth the same? apparently, i heard on this board, it's because hds are harder to get than at other unis, but then wouldn't it still be worth including them in the gpa?

I know, it's a bitch. I generally get highish Ds, and it's like there's no insentive to get an HD- I mean, I'm not going to get an HD average and hence get it on my transcript.

I feel the same. In one sense it takes the pressure off because i don't need hds because a d is good enough, in another it's bad because one credit does a lot of damage to the gpa (it takes the pressure off getting hds but puts the pressure on getting credits). It's probably better as it is for me personally because i would never have a chance with people who get straight hds, so at least this masks it and puts me closer to them than i would be with the other system.

MQ=Lazy uni.

therefore it would be safe to assume, that it was happy hour when they started to work out the High Distinction stuff, and went to the bar instead.
