I need to know how the following compounds can be prepared:
a) 2-butanol
b) 2,3-dichloropentane
c) 3-bromohexane

Thanks in advance :)

a) Hydration of Butane with dilute H as catalyst
b) Substitution, between Cl2 and Pentane (No idea)
c) Substitution between Br2 and Hexane (Cyclohexane + bromine → 3-bromohexane + HBr)

All are wrong.

a. Try hydration of 2-butene.
b. Try bubbling Cl2 through 2-pentene.
c. Try hydrohalogenation of 3-hexene using HBr.

If you want 90+ in Chemistry, you have a long way to go - it sounds harsh but I'm just telling you the truth.
