u r better off doing it at university if you are really serious about design as a career.
Check out DIA (Design Institute of Australia) the governing body of Australian designers. They recommend a 4 years of degree education in design.
'In keeping with professional training currently available the DIA recommends four years of tertiary design training to degree level.'

After all design isn't just a technical position nor is it a trade.

you get more practical experience at tafe in graphic design.
ive done cert ll and lll at tafe in graphic design, and ive learnt a fair bit.
it was fun.
hoping to get into cert lV next year, or year after.
gotta finish my HSC first, but yeah.
its also alot fucking cheaper at tafe.
