there isn't much you can prepare for in the aptitude test. like you said, it is an iq test, you can't cheat the computer. if they honestly do not think you're 'smart' enough to be an officer, then you'll need to come up with a compelling case for the officer to make him recommend you.

are you going for the reserve or the army fulltime?

I don't mean to sound callous, but if you lact the nescessary intellect to be an officer, I don't want you defending me! Regardless of your other reasons.

lol how stupid can you be.

I've done that test and it's easy as piss.

If you can't pass that then please don't become an officer.

I am not entirely sure how to go about becoming an officer, so this suggestion maybe improbable/impossible.

Couldn't you just join the army/navy as a private/seaman and then work your way up? I mean, outside of maybe a battlefield commission, wouldn't there be other opportunities to become an officer if you are already in the army/navy?

You still have to complete the IQ test i think. And that way would take years extra. OP should take Ice to improve intelligence.

I am currently in the process of joining the ADF (Assessment Day May 13). I have finished year 12 last year and have looked into becoming an Officer.

Firstly, you do need to be smart. They don't let just anyone become a leader. You will need to do an aptitude test (on your JOEs day) which is compulsory if you want to be anything from a cook to a mechanical engineer. It is similar to an IQ test. I personally did very well on this test and have the aptitude to become an Officer, however there are other factors.

Secondly, you will almost definitely not get in straight after high school. You can apply but it is competitive and most people who go to RMC (officer school, basically) are between the ages of 20 - 25, as 18yos do not have enough 'life experience'. For this reason I have chosen to omit an Officer application and spend a few years in the ADF and then apply.

Thirdly, you need decent grades in Year 12 (at least straight Cs) and you need to be a confident person.

Long post, but I'll provide good answers to your questions. Tank crew in the ADF is generally accepted as boring to be honest. You don't get deployed and you will be posted to Darwin barracks which is apparently a dump. However, ASLAV crew (light armoured vehicle) get deployed often.

My advice to you is to apply through General Entry to either Main Battle Tank crewman or ASLAV crewman. Then after a few years apply for Officer.

EDIT: Whoops, didn't see that you had already applied, lol. Well if you can't pass the aptitude test it's bad luck for now as aptitude is generally something that is given to you at birth or strengthened in early childhood. If I were you I'd apply General Entry as mentioned and make your way up to Warrant Officer.

I agree with him..Originally I wanna apply as officer at the beginning. I found that it's very difficult and more competitive to apply for. Therefore I change my mind, I applied for Rifleman and Gun Number at first. Since my HSC certificate is now in Hong Kong that I can't provide them my education details. I had no choice but to do Alternative test (Vetassess AEE test) on 7th May in Sydney CBD. I am waiting for result until now. Since the test was very easy, I should pass it and the case manager will help me book a final assessment day at which includes Medical, Psychological test and the interview.

If I successfully pass them all, I will have the final assessment, Fitness-test, in which contain 15 push-ups, 45 sit-ups and 7.5 levels shuttle run (1120 m)....I can be enlisted if I also pass it.

As you said yourself, It's not something you can really improve. So asking on an internet forum how to pass an IQ test really emphasises why he failed.

Some people need a kick into line sometimes, buttering him up and saying " dun worry u lbe fine jus keep tryinz1!!!' is not going to help.
