I was just wondering who's planning to do this course, or at least putting them in their preferences?

Thanks.

This is still a course right? =D

Its a new course, starting next year. I was considering it, but I dont think graphic design is much of a high-paying job.
Supply and Demand. If you get the contract to a big company, then big bucks. I asked a similar question the other day in the Careers Expo forums, about salaries, if you're interested =)

The thing is, with this course it has Computer Science in it which widens your options.

Thanks for the link MedNez. =D

I've got this one down as my 2nd preference.
I personally know two others who have it as their first preference

@ Kd14: you're hsc's in 2010? you dont have to worry at all then. i reckon they'll be heaps of new courses by then

o and the UAI cut-off for BDM (bachelor of digital media) and BDM / BSc (comp sci) are the same at 85.75 last time i checked.

and yea i agree the comp sci really broadens your field

Good to hear others have considered it. Anyone here actually doing this course? Some general info on it would be great

I know a couple people who are doing it. Travelling from Cofa to kensington back and forth is a bitch, but if you plan your schecual right, it's not so bad.

Also, I'm guessing you do computer science? What's that like? What subjects could you most relate it to at school? I'm a tad apprehensive about it regarding maths and/or boring factor

as far as computing is concerned, the course really doesn't relate to anything HSC has to offer (SDD comes to mind, but it's actually quite different). The calculus part of first year math is a lot like 4u math, algebra and especially discrete math is quite different. If you're doing a double degree, you won't get many electives, so I won't comment much about that, but I'm actually enjoying the electives I'm taking, even though they have almost nothing to do with my degree.

Oh ok thanks for the info. 4U maths. Yuck. I'm just doing 2U so I'd def need a bridging course. I gotta do that sort of thing for most of my choices though. Maybe I should look into psychology or something.
Plus I really wanna do some electives too like philosophy or ancient history, so I'm still mega uncertain.

plenty of people get by just fine with only 2u math(+bridging course), and if you do a single computer science degree you can take philosophy and ancient history as electives in your first year. :)

Im really interested in this course as well...to be honest this seems like my perfect course but I don't want to get into it and then realise its not for me and keep changing courses and whatnot...so can someone explain what is meant by:

The Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Digital Media can be studied by two plans:

Plan COMPA13982
Plan DIGMA13982

http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/programs/2008/3982.html
I don't see any other reference to these 'separate plans' and so am confused :cold:
...someone please explain??

thanks

1. pls start a new thread :)

2. I believe they refer to majors in digital media of compsci. Note how they say in year 2 onwards you choose either a sma or cse elective. You choose at that point which area you would like to specialise in more. This is my evaluation of what a plan is from what i have seen in the handbook.
