Hey guys,
I've my yr 11 English Advanced yearly coming up and part of it involves an essay on Othello by Shakespeare. It's a 40min essay on Othello so I will probably need around 6 quotes to support my points. Some of the quotes in Othello are quite long, so what is the best/ mos efficient way to remember these?

Thanks :)

Bahaha I did that assessment last week :)

Well, yeah, probably 5-6 quotes. Only use part of the quote that is absolutely necessary/relevant to your argument.

I think you can use ellispses to shorten overly long quotes like "I've my yr 11 English Advanced...essay on Othello by Shakespeare".

for the long quotes, try to cut it down to use the most important part of that quote. e.g. for othello "i am not what i am" is short and effective. but, try to use different quotes compared to others, to be able to distinguish yourself to the matter.

Also try to pick quotes that double or even triple up on techniques, that way you don't have to remember so many quotes.

Choose your quotes carefully, I memorise them like a speech and associate themes with them.

Do you go to my school lol? That's what our 40 minute essay is on which is part of our yearly.

Try shortening the quotes with ellipsis rather than memorizing slabs of text.

This is essentially it. Pick out a quote which you can extract the most amount of techniques from - having the most value for the buck.

Word association is really effective.

Apart from what's been mentioned, saying them out loud as they'd be said in Shakespearean style helps a lot (even if you sound like a douche)
