CD-RW recognised as CD-ROMs (1 Viewer)

Its so annoying, a few weeks back my burner started to fail burns which has not happened once since i bought it like 2yrs ago, so I updated to the latest firmware and now windows only recognises it as a CD-Rom hence I cannot burn anything.

Now I installed another burner from my sisters computer and it too is viewed as a cd-rom, so i highly doubt its a prob with the hardware.

can anyone tell me WTF is going on?? thanks
