Hi,
I have an assessment in which i have to write an essay discussing the statement:
"Communication is a powerful tool for maintaing social relationships and social control within cultures"
We have to explain how this is evident in a culture of our choice and compare it to Australia.
Could someone please explain what that statement means?

What you're being asked to do is to identify the ways in which persons within society communicate. Identify and explain how the different types of technologies enhance our communication with others.
You could compare it to a relatively "behind" culture where technology is limited, and describe the ways people within this community and culture communicate to maintain social relationships.
