Use the first 5-7 minutes of your reading time reading through the texts. With factual texts (e.g. newspaper articles) usually the beginning is most important and it gradually becomes less and less significant so don't spend all your time reading one long text but allocate your time effectively to each text (max I've seen is 3, so maybe 1.5 minutes each text). Also, make sure you read the questions before you start reading the texts so that you have a brief understanding of what you're looking for. Once the exam begins, underline important quotes that you'll use in your answer. Don't write unnecessary amounts for questions worth only 1 or 2 marks. And remember 'how' means techniques.
