Did UTS finally decide to offer a Computer Science degree? Is it equivalent to UNSW's Computer Science degree or is it actually a very research oriented degree?

Have to wait to see what subjects you have to do before we can judge.

The subject list is already up, it does have a lot of theoretical subjects so I would consider it an equivalent to the CompSci courses at other universities which the BScIT course never was.

UTS do recommend it mostly for people that want to go into research or more scientific jobs, but that is because BScIT, Software Engineering etc. at UTS are more practice based.

The UTS course is however 4 years vs the typical 3 years, so i'd encourage you to compare the course/subjects between unis to figure out the differences and what you prefer.
