If I have two particles (or whatever you want to call them) colliding together like this: ---> <----
with an energy of 200eV each,
why does that have more energy than 1 particle with an energy of 400eV colliding with another stationary particle like this: ------> |

It would make sense to me if it were the velocities that appeared equal (because E = (1/2)mv^2 and E = 1/2m(2v)^2 )
but this is talking about equal energies.
