been on my mind for a while. throughout my life i've never drunk much and never really got into drinking/parties etc. i just don't react well to it and don't seem to enjoy it as others.

outta curiousity are there heaps of straight edge people out there?

i have noticed though, as a result i don't have many friends, if any at all in this age group.

especially being male too it doesn't look good.

sounds very cliche but i really dont like the taste... some were having the cola and black douglas i think it was.. i tried it and in fact preferred straight coke instead.

and i really dont understand why some people actually enjoy getting wasted. you dont even remember what you did the night before so why would you do it?

That isn't true. I drink a lot and have only ever had that happen to me about 3 times and even then it was only part of the night that I didn't remember.

I have heaps of friends who don't drink, or drink very lightly, and they're hell funny, joyous, confident, popular cats. No one really cares whether you drink or not. People will rib you and joke about it, but that's all they really are, jokes.

but as christians they should pay attention to what the bible says. there are more than 75 Bible references critical of alcohol consumption.

another thing to remember is that 'wine' had two meanings in Hebrew and Greek. When mentioned in a positive context is referring to fermented juice, which is non-intoxicating. The Bible is critical of intoxicating wine however, described as being like 'a false god' in the book of Daniel, and in a host of other places on the same level as adultery, debauchery and immorality.

1 Corinthians 5:11 says If a Christian brother is a drinker, do not associate with him.

Luke 12:45 - Christ warned against drunkenness.

Habakkuk 2:16 - Drinking leads to shame.
