Hey i got an interview with energy australia for electrical engineering... but now im not sure if i want to just major in power engineering :| i dunt think they let you do a double degree... which is crap, or even allow for flexibility in your electives... i saw the website for eet at unsw and well... only 5 electives :S are the electives REALLY broad? like 2 electives = 1 specialisation (evven though they're like 5 in each)???

and what brand of specialisastion does photonics come under?

i like electrical engineering when its to do with electronics, developing new technologies or developing solutions for companies on a consulting basis, that would give me great satisfaction... but i dunt think taht is possible AT ALL with an electrcial engineering degree ajroing in power energy :| like ddistribution and stuff...

PLEASE ANY INFO ON ELECXTRIALCA ENGINEERING + ENERGY AUS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRA WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!

thanks

hey i went to one of these interviews last year after the hsc and they basically abused me cause i didn't apply for any of the uni scholarships!!! but basically study heaps on all theinfo about the scolarship, how much it is worth, how long it last, etc.. and on energy australia, such as where they supply power to and exactly what they have done, but appart from that u should have no probs with any electrical problems that they ask.

good luck

It is possible to do professional electives related to Energy System in your 4th year.

ENERGY SYSTEMS

ELEC4205 Electrical Energy Systems - S1 (6UOC, 4hrs)(Pre: ELEC3005)
ELEC4216 Electrical Drive Systems - S2 (6UOC, 4hrs)(Pre: ELEC3005)
ELEC4240 Power Electronics- S1 (6UOC, 4hrs) (Pre: ELEC3006)
SOLA3540 Applied Photovoltaics- S1 (6UOC, 4hrs) (Pre:ELEC3005)
There are no majors (as far as I know) within electrical engineering, just professional electives.

in any case - im going to the interviews anyways.

any info would be appreciated about this course / scholarship.

my advice for you is not to choose ur major too early.. if u start to regret taking it,you may be stuck with it for the rest of the course!!
