Ellipse, Auxilary Circle (1 Viewer)

Hey guys,
Can someone explain me the concept of the auxilary circle when dealing with the ellipse? Then can you also explain 5A of Terry Lee exercise 5.2. Thanks in advance.

welll i dont have an exact definition but i would think that an auxiliary circle is i.e an ellipse is just a deformed circle on on axis (may that be vertical or horizontal). i really would worry too much about that , like seriosly its a maths exam not an english. try searching wiki if ur really interested.

if i remember correctly the ellipse has the parametric coords (acos@,bsin@), the auxillary circle is simply a circle with parametric coords (acos@,acos@), i.e. x^2+y^2=a^2. The way my teacher taught it is it is essentially to help draw the ellipse....never really used it so i don't think it's that necessary.

The auxilliary circle is actually relevant to deriving the parametric equations of the ellipse and hyperbola.
