i spoke to my uws career advisor and he told me that if people dont like working in the engineering industry that they can go work for the banks....like macquarie bank.....and i was like wtff....

is this true?
is this for all engineers or just specialised ones?

yes this is true and for all types of engineering, this is mainly because engineers are considered to have the best problem solving skills (majority of engineers end up in management related jobs)and hence many finical institutions like to poach graduate engineers.You however still need relatively good marks to enter such institutions .

No, it is not true. If you graduate in engineering you have to be an engineer, it's enshrined in law (Engineers Act, 1945). Your career adviser is lying to you.

yeah its because engineers can do maths/problem solving at a high level and many commerce students can't. also, some jobs in banks require programming skills and engineers have got that covered as well.

2. Engineers (what i hope to be) are better problem solvers, and are better at a variety of jobs than other non-engineers. Why? Because they can solve problems that others cannot. Which is damn valuable to any employer.

Never said that, but uts is far, far superior to usyd in engineering courses.

That said, i wanna go to UNSW, but then again, i might go to UTS. I won't be going to Usyd for engineering.

besides which we do the exact level of maths however you dont do any modern subjects such as engineering communications, designining for engineers, engineering project management and sustainability and ethics for engineering.
