Heres a few simple ones..there are probably hundreds of english techniques out there.

Simile-A comparison describing something "as" something
Metaphor-A comparison
Personification-Describing something to be human
Alliteration-Repetition of consonats
Assonace-Repitition of vowels
Onomatopeia-Describing something as a sound
Hyperbole-Exaggeration

They are probably the most common ones out there.

I think language techniques are skills or styles that enrich and are used to deliver a message.

MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION YOU CAN EVER ASK!

ALL english exams WILL be asking for language techniques DESPITE whatever way they rephrase the question! you must know your language techniques!

language techniques is as what z600 stated, skills or styles that enrich and are used by the composer trying to convey an idea or message through to the audience.

YOU MUST learn to pick language techniques up if you want to pass english. IT's A MUST!

search through this website for a list of language techniques AND MEMORISE few very common ones, they will be EXTREMELY handy in exams.
