fellow borders!

Has anyone ever studied the theme 'wolves' in module c?
The theme draws on western culture and our representation of what wolves symbolically represent? eg. extrapolation of our inner qualities; guilt; violence...

if so CAN SOME ONE PLEASE RECOMMEND ME ANY GOOD TEXTS ON 'WOLVES'

yikes prelims 1 week awayyyyy

Heyo! My school's doing representation of wolves as well. Well, to get you started, there's heaps of children's picture books on them. We did about 4 of them in class. We've also done songs and poetry.

Here's some:
- Three little pigs (the traditional fairy tale)
- Li'l Red Riding Hood by Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs (song)
- Jump in my Car by The Ted Mulry Gang (song)
- We are Wolves by Melinda Julietta and Lucia Guarnotta (picture book)

----

Oh and the poem Lone Dog http://www.bartleby.com/103/164.html is that referring to a wolf? Cause I want to do that one for my prelims.

Ohhh sorry! I didn't read the question properly. Our topic is "Representation of Wolves" rather than your one which is symbolic representations. That means we're doing different topics.

no no! LOL. we're doing "representations of Wolves " as well.
I just think texts on the wolf in little red riding hood is a bit literal.
Our teacher's been absent so we're going to have to analyse module C on our own.

*bites fingers nails*

so what are some of your themes?

But we are studying the actual wolf and how it is represented. Not the character or archetype, the actual wolf.

So for example in the picture books we're analysing, our class looks for things such as:
e.g. pointed claws and large teeth which shows how wolves evoke fear.
e.g. wolf drawn in the background to show how wolves are marginalised in society.

I think what we're doing is slightly different. Cause we're looking at wolves literally, whereas I think you're looking at wolf characters and wolf archetypes.
